The Royal side is all new (built by Sandals in 2016, with the new Oasis area with the St. Although it is billed as two resorts (Barbados and Royal Barbados), for all purposes it really is just one big resort. The grounds of the resort were very lush and pretty, it was also well maintained and nicely laid out. The bottled water they distributed was far better than tap in taste and wherever we got it from (bars, restaurants, etc) it was always cold. Sandals (and Beaches) have continued their efforts in controlling water born viruses with the exclusive use bottled water throughout the resort (started in 2015). We have stayed at about half of the Sandals Resorts (Bahamas, Grenada, Montego Bay, Royal Caribbean, Negril, South Coast, and Antigua), as well as both Beaches resorts (5x total) and about 8 other all-inclusives plus a few traditional resorts in the Caribbean before, and the experience at Royal Barbados was better than the best of those.
